5 out of 5 stars Had to write this since the only other review is...well honestly a clueless person
El-Ski

First off, a lot of returning Skylanders in Swap Force all have a little title in front of their names. For example, Prism Break is Hyper Beam Prism Break. Spryo is called Mega Ram Spyro. Chill is called Blizzard Chill. The reason be, is they start as their regular/default selves then as you go through their talent tree/pathways/upgrades, whatever you'd like to call it. You upgrade them and then in game they will become what their model is.For Example,Prism Break here starts with blue crystals, then turns green once you upgrade him at a certain point, at the very end of the pathway you can upgrade him red (which just gives him more damage). It is the SAME for every other Skylander. Mega Ram Spyro also starts as regular Spyro, you just go through his upgrades and after the pathways you can upgrade him with his Mega Ram horn version. As for Prism Break, he is fun and look cool. I like how he actually changes his crystal colors more than twice.

verona francis

Kudos to the inventor of this video game. It is my trump card for getting school studies done. The promise of a sky lander is wonderful motivation for my six year old. It induces immediate spelling recall and I don't have to hear whining about how many math pages are to be done. With regard to the character my son loves him and loves how he destroys the bad guys....his words. Swash buckler was damaged by accident....please work on making him available soon.

Awesome gift for a boy or girl, for Christmas or birthdays...Yes I would tell a friend of this cool item

5 out of 5 stars Dust cover for PS3 slim
Jason

I got tge dust cover for my PS3 slim, and it fits perfectly over the console. Its made of thick material...kinda like a canvas material and covers the system completely to keep the dust etc. out of the system while not being used.****NOTE**** The manufacturer DOES NOT sell the dust covers for a PS3 slim on Amazon. I ordered mine through Amazon, but I emailed the manufacturer stating that I had a PS3 slim & not an Xbox360.They replied back stating that the dust covers they listed on Amazon.com are for the older "fatter" PS3's,but they do sell covers for the newer slims, and that theyd just go ahead and pull a slim cove from their stock & send it. I did go to their actual online store, and sure enough, the PS3 slim covers were same priced as the PS3 Fat cover. They have covers for all sorts of systems & electronics. I just want to be sure anyone else that orders a PS3 dust cover knows that the ones listed on Amazon are not for the Slim model....****

My son-in-law was looking for something to keep the dust off of his Playstation and I found this on Amazon. He seems to be satisfied with it.

5 out of 5 stars Second Purchase from DigitalDeckCovers
Pyro.Man

My first was a printer cover from them and now an XBox cover. Dust is horrible in my house with 3 kids, 1 dog, and 2 cats. These covers fit perfectly although I believe the XBox cover was sized for the original size as where my slim version has a little extra room under the cover, but still keeps dust out. Make sure you do not accidentally turn on the XBox with it covered though, that happened to me and it was extremely hot by the time I wondered with the wining fans and popping sounds from plastic connectors where. My son grabbed my controller thinking it was going to just auto hook up to his XBox, he grabbed it and pushed the on button walking away from my XBox. Mine is still find, but certainly be careful.

5 out of 5 stars A GREAT COVER FOR MY PS3
Richard H. Burk

I have needed a dust cover for my PS3 for some time now, and when I discovered this one I jumped at it. Made of a heavy quality material, I know it will give me years of use and may in fact outlast my PS3 while giving it the protection it needs in between uses.

5 out of 5 stars PERFECT!
Douglas A Gunderson

I have had mine for a while now and I highly recommend these to everyone who has a PS3 or XBOX 360 or both. They fit well and keep all the dust out. Made of a great quality of material. These are a MUST have! And well worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars It does the job!
Eadero

Looks great and keeps dust off the console when not in use. Also, it keep my toddle away from it because its perfectly disguised.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Protector
Nat Nat

This protector works very well, it is nice and thick and fits perfectly around our X Box. It has a rubber-like lining around the inside to ensure the dust is kept out. We had a problem with dust getting in previously which is why I bought this because I'm not trying to pay for another repair. It shipped in a timely manner which is always a bonus.

5 out of 5 stars Dust cover for Xbox 360/ or PS3
USMarine

If your looking for a perfect custom fit dust cover for your gaming console, then this is not the one you want however, dust covers in general are only suppose to fit around the device and that is exactly what this does. It is free standing and drops over your gaming console, and this is exactly the way I prefer, rather than a tight fit that can ruin the cover or scratch the finish of your device, (XBOX/PS3). I received the product on time and delivered by the post office USPS. It does the job because my house harbors dust and I don't want that in my XBOX. Although I dust every other day, this cover gives me peace of mind because we all know that when dust settles on electronics, the devices will run hotter and eventually overheat and malfunction. The seller is actually located in Colorado, and they make these covers for every device i.e. copiers, printers, gaming consoles. I am very happy with this 20 dollar investment that will protect my 300 dollar console! I gave it 5 stars as a dust cover not a game as it was asking me to rate.

5 out of 5 stars Duh! Gotta Get the SWAP-ables!
R. Wentz

This is a no-brainer. You want to get these SWAP-ables if you get nothing else. They're fun and when you've fully upgraded one character, you can switch the halves and use any leftover money from one character to upgrade the other half's character. Too cool!

5 out of 5 stars "Roll with the Punches"!
Annette C. Ross

Night Shift is a great skylander. he can punch enmies constly and his uppercut does massive dammage.for his lower half he has the teleport ability and a upgrade that can revive him if he gets K.O.'d.overall,he is a great charter

5 out of 5 stars Stink Bomb is the Bomb!!!!!!!
Mark Lazenby

Stink Bomb is perfect for anyone that is a BIG Skylanders fan. It is definitely one of the better swapforce characters. My 6 year old loves it!

5 out of 5 stars The Quintessential Undead Character
Shusaku

I never thought I'd find an Undead character I liked more than Ghost Roaster, but this character has certainly come close to doing it, maybe even has. What's not to like about this character? He deals nice damage at a fast pace, moves quickly, has an attack that absorbs health, and can come back from the dead, multiple times even. Seriously, there's nothing to dislike about this character. If he had Ghost Roaster's spectral form he'd be the ultimate, unbeatable character. Considering he's got a movement skill that ties in a mid-long range attack and also has fierce close-range fighting, this is an ideal character for any collection and arguably the most effective swap character in any fight.

5 out of 5 stars Magna Charge is one of the Best
Vance's Dad

I like how fast Magna Charge's base is, but I find his top half more useful. His ability to pick up enemies is super powerful on the higher difficulty levels because you can throw them of cliffs and kill them instantly instead of having to deal with their high hit points. He is almost unstoppable as Magna Ranger because you can juggle most enemies with the Ranger tornado and finish them quickly by picking them up and tossing them. Magna Charge is also useful for score-based levels also because you can use his magnet to draw in all the treasure in an area, maximizing your score without running all over the map.

5 out of 5 stars Great gift
M. Williams

I purchased this toy for my 7 year old great grandson for Christmas and he was very happy with it

5 out of 5 stars Blue Rattle Shake is Blue
M. J. Schlipstein

Got the Rattle Shake Exclusive in great condition and although I already had the regular one this one is better by far as just a figure. It glows in the dark and is easily one of the more interesting looking variants out there for swap force. Also for those curious (although it doesn't really need to be said) but you can in fact use this in conjunction with the original Rattle shake although it will look kind of weird if you do.

5 out of 5 stars Free Ranger "Fried Chicken" Skylander
J. Green

I love Free Ranger Swap Force character. I changed his name to "Fried Chicken". You can change the top half and also the bottom half's name. Named "fried" because he can fry his enimies with blast of lightning either through his blade swipes, lightning eyes, or his tornado that also produce lightning blasts. He utilizes his tornado for picking up enemies and twirling them around at the same time as using his other attacks, he also uses his tornado legs for a speed boost. He's a very strong, effecient character, my favorite swapping character so far.**Update**You cannot necessarily do two attacks at once with Free Ranger. Unless you switch his top half to Rattle Shake's or Grilla Drilla's. You can send out the auto fire snake with "Rattle" or send out the monkeys with "Grilla" and they WILL attack the bad guys as they are spinning around in a tornado. Therefore two attacks at once. This is very, very effective. :-)

5 out of 5 stars Smolderdash - Best of the Firelanders
Mannjon

I have all of the main Skylanders from each game (with the exception of a few super rare variants), and I can say that this is in the top 3 of my all time favorites, and probably tied with "Sunburn" for best of the "Firelanders".Looks: Smolderdash looks a little dull at first in her package, but the lightcore version really adds some cool aesthetics when placed on the PoP. In game, she has a soft glow at normal, and when she powers up she looks like a blazing fire. The almost "silhouette" look of the character is bold and really stands out in the collection. Her main weapon is a firewhip which is well animated. Gotta love the hairdo!Abilities: Smolderdash takes some getting used to at first, but once powered up has the potential to deal some major damage. At first, she seems a bit unarmored and vulnerable. She is a mid-range brawler type and has a slow projectile, so ranged attacks must be well planned and aimed. She isn't the fastest on her feet. But later she gets an ability to "jump like a dragoon" and land like a meteor dealing massive area damage, gets some upgraded armor, and gets upgraded speed. She also gets an ability to "whip" one of her projectiles and create a fire barrier that damages enemies on contact, and her ultimate attack is a flame dashing attack that deals major damage.Value: Although the only version you can get now is the $12-$14 lightcore version, I still feel that for the money this is a worth while purchase. In fact, due to the limited amount of color on the actual model, the lightcore version really adds something for this particular Skylander. Most of the lightcore Skylanders are really only worth getting for the serious collectors, or if it is one of your favorites; but if you are going to get any of the lightcore variants, this is the one to get.*These are not the actual values, but my own personal "out of ten" ratings*Overall HP: 6/10Speed: 6/10Attack: 10/10Armor: 7/10Ability List: 10/10Uniqueness: 9/10 Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars Lightcore Smolderdash review
J. Green

She looks great as a figure, you set her on the portal and her eyes and fire hair glow red. In the game she's even more awesome, she powers up by catching on fire wihich then makes all of her other attacks more devastaing (whip attack, firey explosions etc.). She has short downtime after powering up, where she then "Smolders", in which the flame dims and smoke rolls off her dark figure, very cool. Makes my top 10 list of skylanders past and presesnt.

5 out of 5 stars Great character.
Shane Farber

Daughter loves this character. It is her favorite by far. Many different moves and it is a blast to play!

5 out of 5 stars Happy and disappointed at the same time
Michael

My son loves Skylanders of any kind and wants them all.Haven't found a skylander yet that isn't fun to play with, in and out of the game!* Son was disappointed that this character does not look red in the game.* They shouldn't make them look different on the outside and not the same when you play them in the game.We would still recommend though.

4 out of 5 stars A decent Skylander
Willie G.R.

She's pretty decent, though she is not a powerhouse. She is really good either way (that's why I say 'decent') because both of her upgrade paths are pretty useful in their own way. The Crystal Path focuses on offense and health, and the "Dancing" path focuses on continual damage and quick getaways.

3 out of 5 stars Halfway decent game, but this is NOT SOCOM!
Laney50w

Well, what can I say? SOCOM this is NOT!!!!OK, for the record, I miss the old SOCOM format...REALLY, I do! And for Zipper Interactive to release this game, the way it is, is just wrong! And before you guys start bashing me, play it first, and then take a moment, step back, and ask yourself, "is this really SOCOM???"I mean, why even make this game? There's a thousand run-n-gun type military games out there...Too many to list, actually. The original Socom format really had something different. There were NO GAMES like them! So, what does THIS GAME bring to the table, that the other shooters do not????? NOTHING!I don't know where to start, and I'm just gonna be all over the place, as things make me angry....but, here goes:This game is basically run, get shot at, run, get shot at, get shot at some more, and get shot at some more. If you think I'm kidding, try the game yourself! The original SOCOM series was intense, strategic, organic, you could use a headset to use voice commands, use your teammates to help complete missions, use team mates to overwatch, command teammates to do all sorts of stuff...the original SOCOM games had SO MUCH to offer...this game????....NOTHING!!! All this cool stuff that the original SOCOM games had, is all GONE! Sure, OK, the graphics are awesome! OK? And sure, it's got a BUNCH of shooting in it...OK? but, so do a million other games out there, and graphics & shooting only goes so far. If you're looking for the old SOCOM here....well, you can forget it. The original magic of SOCOM, is forever gone.In this game, you can forget about shooting bad guys at 300yds, and staying hidden for a while. OH NO, NOT IN THIS GAME!!! You shoot ONE TIME, ONE ROUND, WITH A SILENCED SNIPER RIFLE, and 4 million rounds just seem to find you and rain down upon you like hellfire...Tanks, rockets, bullets, grenades, missiles...everything!!! Come on???...really??? Whether you're hidden or not...EVERY ROUND & BULLET just magically finds you, instantly. Hide behind a rock...YUP, you guessed it, bullets hit you!!! This is a joke! You can't even climb ladders in this game! So, your ability to snipe from high vantage points, is gone! Not that it would matter anyway.Another thing.....Why do you have to complete the game for better scopes & weapons? I'm sure the real Navy Seals have to do this in real life! So, I have to complete the game to get a better sniper scope??? COME ON???!!!!! What kinda crap is this????In a firefight, bullets come from EVERY ANGLE! You can hide behind whatever you want (Rocks, cars, trucks, WALLS), and, you guessed it! Bullets, rockets, grenades...etc...just all seem to hit you! People just appear from out of nowhere, and BAM! You're dead! It's actually laughable. No voice commands, no strategy, no stealth, no night-vision, no missions (to speak of), no sniper shots from afar, no decent choice of weapons, no nuthin'! Just come up on bad guys & tanks, and start shootin' like mad, because that's all the game will allow you to do. Don't bother trying to hide, either...COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!Now, before I get flamed, and called names, yes, there are 2-3 levels in this game, in which you have to be stealthy....but, it's a joke. Shoot one guy, and once again, you either fail a mission, or get trampled by 30 guys at once with assault rifles. Hell, I've played ATARI 2600 games better than this. This game is just like every other military shooter out there, MOH, COD, whatever! (Just not as good)....It just left a bad taste in my mouth, after being a HUGE SOCOM fan since day one. It's a real bummer to play this.....The original SOCOM games (1, 2 & 3) really made the player feel like they were actually IN the game, and actually hiding in the bushes & shrubs. Not here.Bottom line: I don't care what ANY reviewer says, this game sucks! PERIOD! It's a cheap, unrealistic, generic shooter, with a SOCOM label on it.So, here's my PRO & CON list.....are you ready?PROS:Guns.....CONS:Just about everything else....Am I being too harsh? No, I honestly don't think so. And the general public shouldn't accept this. Considering all the cool things that the original SOCOM games offered, I'm actually being too easy on the game, and the folks at Zipper Interactive! So, to all you folks at Zipper Interactive, I ask you:"Is THIS the BEST you guys could come up with????? If so, then I'll buy another PS2, and start playing the old SOCOM games again."...... Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Wanted a SharpShooter...and Got Free Practice Dummies
W. R. Russell Jr.

UPDATE 05-02-11: Giving the title a fourth star for two reasons: First, the U.S. Navy SEALS just killed Osama Bin Laden! That's the ultimate 'Takedown' mission...Go SEALS!! Secondly, I've been logging a lot more time with the game in 'Custom' mode. The no-respawn rule in 'Custom' forces a frustrating, but ultimately highly instructive and tactical rethink of gameplay style that fits with the game design. It's sort of like learning an instrument, frustrating until you 'get it', then it's much more rewarding. The price coming down also helps...a lot.*****UPDATE 06-02-11: See 'Multiplayer' notes below Singleplayer -PSN is finally running for me.*****Let me start out by saying that I'm almost exclusively a First Person Shooter player and almost always on an Xbox. I've logged time on (and have beaten as well) BFBC2, CoD Black Ops, and Crysis 2; I also own and have beaten CoD Modern Warfare, MW2, Red Dead Redemption, etc...I've just gotten into the PS3 scene to get the killer Blu-Ray player and try some of the exclusive titles on it. The SOCOM series is a PS exclusive. SOCOM4 is my first taste of a shooter on the PS3 and sadly, this game doesn't measure up, and that's too bad. Granted, it's a Third Person Shooter game on the PS3, but more than close enough to compare. Gears of War and RDR are both TPS and awesome.Having carried a real gun for the 32 years of my entire adult life from 17 to 49 in the military and law enforcement, I wanted to experience something close to actually pointing a weapon in a video game and was excited to try the PS SharpShooter system based on its reviews. I found after pricing the components locally, the SOCOM4 'Full Deployment Edition' with the SharpShooter and all the other PS Move gear actually cost less than just the hardware. Ergo, the game was free - to me. So, if you got the game with the package it is an awesome deal as it's an 'OK' game. I'll review the SharpShooter in its place...although I will say it gets high marks. As for SOCOM4, I'm not familiar with the earlier titles. They must've been good or we wouldn't be on '4'. Video games are very complex with many layers so I'll try to summarize for times sake:SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN ONLY:GAMEPLAY: Linear! I haven't been in a more 'rail shooter' linear game in the past several years...except maybe Mass Effect, but the story there is the game. This is worse than Halo linear; as in on-screen breadcrumb sequential checkpoints that keep you focused more on playing checkpoint baseball and tagging the bases than in mission achievement.STORY: You're a semi-stranded, cobbled together, *NATO*? Seal team on some island that could cripple global commerce if the rebels take control. I don't want to go into more detail and spoil, but if you get more out of the story your imagination is better than mine and I daydream way too much.WORLD: I felt almost no need, or desire, to explore the developer's world. Too bad because in many arenas it seemed that the developers went to a lot of artistic trouble to make it look realistic (success) and approachable (fail). The need wasn't there since if they wanted me to see it a checkpoint would run me through it. The desire wasn't there because the game treasures were ho-hum. The ample guns lying around were hard to understand if they were better or worse than mine (frequently worse I found out) and the 'Intel' that you're supposed to pick up never seemed to give me any useful payoffs...so if I saw it, I grabbed it, otherwise I felt no remorse for missing it. I felt no desire to explore or scrounge, neither seemed to be worth the trouble. The set design seemed high until you tried engaging with anything and it just bonked as you tried to scale it, kick it, etc... Well, you could shoot the occasional bucket or the now universal red exploding barrel. If you tried to get an overwatch position to cover your troops while sending them to flank and pincer, you found out that any high ground was almost always unavailable and just a vertical 'wall' to the arena. RDR this is not. The artists did a good job, the graphics are very good and the tradeoffs fair. Good detail, high contrast, great lighting effects, all in all very good. A nice place to visit...GUNS, BALLISTICS, AND SHOOTING: They did a good job with the guns and most terminal ballistics. The guns were beautifully rendered in game and in cut scenes showing the correct kit for the players. The sights were very well done. Optics were beautiful and real-world accurate - to a point. Reflex reticles were true to life except the fact that the player-side face plates were in focus and quite distracting. They aren't in real life, they are out of focus and only the target and reticle are in focus - as it should be. Small gripe. Shooting with 'irons' in third person is weird, no way around it. It's much weirder when the players own huge and opaque head is frequently in the way because the camera is behind the guy shooting the enemy (you - the player). This only happens when ADS (aiming down sights). You wind up hip shooting like a noob to avoid it. There's no wind or gravity, but hey, again small gripe. Guns with scopes would recoil, but not settle...major gripe and an immersion killer. Shooting with optics moves you into FPS and seemed very good. Especially with the SharpShooter...it felt oddly real when ADS with the SS and using optics, especially scopes. This was and remains the highlight of the game for me...highly recommended for real shooters. You will get a sense of satisfaction that your years of training have FINALLY paid off in a video game; in a way no 'thumb shooter' will understand. Using an ACOG and a SS is not to be missed. Rent the game for that if you already have the gun.Terminal ballistics and hit boxes seemed right on. A well-placed shot to a critical area was a drop, poor shots resulted in crippled, or semi-functional enemies, as expected. Well done. Black Ops could take a few lessons here. Hits were hits, misses were misses, no mysterious stuff. Sadly it seemed that ANY intermediate object would disable your shot...chain link fencing, leaves, openings between stairs, etc... All can defeat battle rifle caliber rounds and MGs, so sayeth the physics engine they're using. At least a lot of cover was destructible both ways...yet, Battlefield this is not.AI: SQUAD: AI was good...considering that AI stinks in every game...period. The AI here has pluses (squad are skilled shooters) and minuses (squad hang back a lot and use cover oddly). I'm not usually working squads in game, so I'll be brief here...these guys will do. They are skilled, resilient (more so than the player by far), and fairly intuitive. They usually follow orders and perform better than most friendlies.ENEMIES: Average. Enemies are appropriately skilled for the middle levels. Behavior patterns were fairly locked and predictable (weak cover skills) with some pleasant surprises (would flank or bum rush). Lethality was game-fair. Odd shots would hurt you, head shots would kill you. Enemies weren't super shooters, but weren't bullet spraying shopkeepers either. Enemy observation skills were highly variable. Sometimes you could sneak past them while looking into their eyes, or they wouldn't notice the 200 lb body you just shot landing on a tin roof next to them. Other times they would see you stealth kill a dude in the dark from a block down the street. Hard to figure.ACTING: The acting is first rate. Voice acting is well done and usually appropriate with only occasional F-bombs. The characters don't have dramatic stories or parts, so this probably wasn't hard to get right. Motion capture looked realistic and they obviously hired real operators for some of the stuff based on movement patterns. Overall well done...a nice cake of few ingredients.I'll add more as I wrap up the game...I just got it yesterday, but if you don't post right away nobody will see it. I might do the Multi-Player. For right now the campaign at least seems like a great training range for the SharpShooter community and little else. The story won't make you feel like you have to save the world, or your teammates (I don't even know their names hours later and don't get worked up when something happens to them), and even the PC seems like your cookie-cutter OCS Seal O-3; I've yet to identify with my own PC. He's no John Marston that's for sure. Gameplay is very dated, graphics and gunwork are good, but the effort is lost on mediocrity elsewhere. So far it's been your average garage sale...some neat stuff lost and surrounded by a bunch of same 'ole.UPDATE: Finished the game and stand by the above review and rating...although I did shoot through a leaf, a fence, and a piece of corrugated steel to get some non-fatal hits on enemies. The game ran 10 hours with a rather casual pace and plenty of do-overs on my part. I like to experiment in-game and this results in a fair amount of 'don't do that again' deaths. Usually when playing a top-notch title, I get really antsy to get back into the game when I have to put it down to deal with real life...I didn't have those joneses with this title. The 'Custom Game' feature is pretty cool and backs up my estimation that the biggest value the game offers is as a training aid for SharpShooter practice. In 'Custom', you can pick maps, game types, and enemy bot skill levels to practice against...think: Black Ops Combat Training and you'll have a great notion of the feature.MULTIPLAYER - UPDATE 06-02-11: Finally got to play MP on this title after waiting a month (Thanks Sony...not). I'm left with mixed feelings about the whole experience. I'm retired and have a little time on my hands, so I have the luxury of playing all these cool games and their online offerings. SOCOM4 has given me some of my most rewarding and frustrating experiences of that time.COMPETITIVE MP: I'm not going to act like I rock at this...I don't. Why? Because the default Quick Play choice places you into large maps with 32 players running around (and expecting you to run around) like an enormous Call of Duty run-n-gun fest. If you like Black Ops, you'll love this...very little if any lag...didn't see any obvious cheating (lag jerking) but it was a swarm of seemingly mindless frontal assault. Using defensive strategies such as setting up ambushes or sniping from cover, exactly the same skills that you need to survive the rest of the game are ignored wholesale in the competitive MP game. Now give even 10% of those folks mics and you can just imagine the 'fog of war' effect...except these aren't trained pros with radio discipline...they're rude, crude and loud bullet sponges. The good news is you really want to kill them.On the smaller maps option in competitive, everyone is 'nade spamming the place. They should call it hand artillery. Tactics here are in short supply as in the big maps, just smaller and crazier. Juveniles needing their brains bathed in epinephrine will have to be talked down from the high. Not my bag.COOPERATIVE MP: A ray of hope and glad to have found it. Imagine the 'Custom' mode, except instead of AI friendlies, you get 1-4 (more is better against 'Hard' enemies) real human squadmates and the ability for each other to revive fallen teammates. No typical respawning. If you don't get revived, you lie until all are dead or victorious. You can select mission types, maps, and enemy skill and force levels. Now tactics and skill matter. This has been the new highlight of the title for me. I have seen some incredibly good soldiering and some really stupid cowboys. Mistakes and foolish bravado will get you and others killed...fast!The radio chatter here is relevant...enemy fire matters...speed, accuracy, and smarts are critical. When you get shot down and a squadmate throws smoke and fights guns blazing to save you, you can bet that when they go down, you'll cut down Hell's Army to save them. Topping the stats after a really tough round is immensely more satisfying than any other round of gaming I've done. This is where they should give medals. 6 stars and where I'll be from now on. I haven't been on XBL since I found this. I've met some amazing folks here from around the world, fun to play with and very efficient operators in the game. Good times...and isn't that what its all about? Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars I Gotta Be Honest, In A Good Way!!!
Anthony

i usually play with a friend online in 1st person shooters. we usually stick to black ops or Battlefield Bad Company 1& 2... ive played SOCOM before but probably like 5 years ago and never on a ps3... SOCOM 4 is very different than Black Ops & Bad Company. everybody is sayin that SOCOM 4 was tryin to be like Call Of Duty, i dont think thats the case.. nowadays games like Super Mario, Grand Theft Auto 3, the 1st MK are technically thought of as (Bad Games).. back then they were amazing ground breaking games. the creators of SOCOM 4 knew that so clearly there not going to go backwards. they had to add some features, better graphics, and basically update. i guess SOCOM fans dont like seeing that but its gotta happen sometime. i personally thought this game was very very good. the 3rd person is a nice change up, sometimes it gets a little hard to shoot when on the side of cover but not too hard. the story mode was a little cliche but stil pretty fun, theres a pretty good selection of guns and custimation for them.. i like the co-op and multi very much.. somehow in SOCOM 4 theres NO CAMPING.. there might be a guy in the same spot tryin to camp but if you know where he is its very easy to eliminate him and stop the camping... i love the bullet penetration, the way bullets go through bodys are just beautiful. the maps seem to be huge but it also seems like everybody is really spread out and no1s in groups. theres no real rendervous point, or middle of the map where people meet. and the knifing is amazing!!!!! THE KNIFING IS JUST LIKE BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY 1 KNIFING!!!! :), a swish kinda, not a shank or stab, makes for way better knife fights and its not based on luck or connection like call of duty... in closing i give this game a 9 outa 10.. its not perfect but for a brand new game that was $45 that comes with bonus content, its a very good deal. im really glad i bought it.

Shop Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Description

Let me go on record and say that I was never a fan of the original Crash Bandicoot. Even though Crash was disarmingly cute and fuzzy, and even though the game's graphics were just about as good as they got in those days, the frustrating design of the game made playing it such a painful experience that I still have flashbacks when I see small marsupials on the Discovery Channel. But just one short year after his debut, Crash is back in a sequel that is so far superior to the original that I'm willing to forget the mistakes of the past. The new storyline is simple: A very gullible Crash is corralled into collecting crystals for the evil Dr. Cortex and gems for the terrible N. Brio. There are 25 levels in all; each level contains an easy-to-find crystal and hard-to-earn gems. Instead of being forced to approach the game in a strictly linear fashion, you progress through a series of five warp rooms. Each warp room contains five levels, which you are free to tackle in any order. After you have found the crystals in each level, you can progress to the next warp room. This system of warp rooms is a great innovation; it's clear how to progress in the game, and yet you have the option of moving to a different level if you're hopelessly frustrated with one area. Best of all, you can save your game in the warp room at any time (a big improvement over the original game's horrific save system). A lot of variety is packed inside this game. You'll navigate through simple run-and-jump areas, try to outrun a very mad polar bear, work your way through sewer systems, and even fly around with a jet pack. Within each level, the basic gameplay is similar to the original Crash: Running, jumping, and spinning are still the order of the day. Even though most levels are set in a semi-3D environment, Crash Bandicoot 2 is a platform game, plain and simple. The graphics are in a league of their own among PlayStation games, and the music couldn't be better. Unlike the original, Crash 2 is rarely frustrating enough to make you want to throw your controller at the TV. In fact, some expert gamers might find Crash to be a little on the easy side. There are only two real problems with Crash Bandicoot 2. First, the semi-3D setup is sometimes hard to navigate, and you'll find yourself missing jumps because you're unable to judge distances properly. Secondly, the game is just plain cheap at times; in some areas you must sacrifice many lives until you memorize a level's layout. In any event, these problems are balanced out by the game's excellent gameplay and intelligent design. Crash Bandicoot 2 is a topnotch platform game. If you're a fan of the genre, you owe it to yourself to check this title out. -- John Broady --Copyright ©1999 GameSpot Inc. All rights reserved. 5 out of 5 stars This is a fun game that keeps you coming back to get 100%

Crash 2 is a great platformer that any playstion owner should have. While beating the game might be a little on the easy side, beating the game and getting all the gems and secret levels you need to get 100% is not. If you are a perfectionest you will enjoy that feature. And don't knock the game because of its cute appearance, it has enough depth for even older gamers to play it. And it also has amazing graphics, (No pop up or draw in at all) control(especially with an analog controller), and depth to keep players coming back until they have 100%. And trust me you will not beat it in a week, it will take time. Just be prepared to sacrifice alot of live for som of the later levels(put lives are pretty plentiful). All in all a great game. If you don't own it yet, buy it!

5 out of 5 stars Fun in the tradition of super mario bros.

If you like Mario games, you'll enjoy this game. It's a challenge to complete the game 100%, so if you're the obsessive type, this game will keep you occupied. It's also fun for the less obsessive- you can see the ending without completing it 100%.

5 out of 5 stars And Your How Old!

If you liked Crash 1, you'll love Crash 2. This game is for 3 to 50 year old. A great game to play with children (you can after they are asleep, if not they yell it's not fair). This is a colorful animated game in which your character is allowed to turn 360 degrees. There are 5 levels consisting of 5 courses on each level. Crash 2 allows you to play on any course on a level in any sequence collecting crystals and silver diamonds. This games challenge continues to increase as it progresses. You jump on or over boxes, thorny turtles, flying birds, bees, lumber jacks, seals, penguins, beavers, sharks, lizards, alligators, monkeys, flying saucers, moving floors, and rolling barrels or mines if you are unlucky. Let us not forget the bears and bolders that chase you while you try to run your course.Hours and hours of fun. Parents remember to share with the children. A game they won't get tired of.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good

Crash 2 is a good game. A great game if your on a budget. It would be better had I not played Crash 3 before it. Crash 2 is a game worth getting, just for the fun of it, and to see how the crazy Bandicoot has evolved in between the two games.Crash 2 is a fun game, but Crash 3 is better.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have Crash Game!

you just have to have this game! I have played all the crash bandicoot games and this is just pure great! the graphics are great game control is great. If your a crash fan you gotta have this game

5 out of 5 stars Crash's Costumed Commercial Counterpart Might Be A Pain...

...but the game version Crash is cool. Sure, "Crash 2: Dr. Cortex Strikes Back" (or "Crash 1," for that matter) might be on the "kiddie appeal" side, but older adolescent gamers might get a kick out of the depth of this limited 3-D platform game. C'est tres facile.. to beat the game, but finding all the gems to get to 100% completion... that's a doozie! I mean, I don't play this much, but my brothers have beat this, and still have to go back to find all the gems. On top of the challenging obstacles & goals of "Crash 2," the graphics ain't too shabby neither. I mean, the peach icon may be a tad bit trite, but, in fact, the graphics are quite... funny. When Crash gets stung by a swarm of bees... his face blows up! When he gets burned by the flamethrower-yeilding guy... he get's burnt to a crisp! And when he says "Whoa!" when he loses a life, that's pretty darn funny. I'm sure everyone really likes the ice stages where Crash has to ride a puny lil polar bear (and dogde the leaping whales- it's a trick to it)... those are kewl. But anywho, no gamer, little kid or mature adolescent, shouldn't be without a little Crash Bandicoot in their PSX collection. It's a doozie.

5 out of 5 stars Great game whether you're 8 or 80
Gary Bisaga

I hadn't played a video game to any extent for probably 15 years when my son got this game for his birthday last year. He loved it and immediately started playing it, so I checked it out. I quickly became completely hooked. I have now beat all the boss levels and are going back and cleaning up the gems. And that leads me to my second point. One of the best things about the game is that, even after you beat the game, there is still a lot to do. At each level, you collect boxes; you can get through the level fairly easily (thus earning the crystal), but to earn the gem you have to collect all the boxes. This is not easy! I beat the game (i.e. got all the crystals) within several weeks of playing the game; but I am still (months later) only up to 80% on the gems. There are sometimes boxes (or extra lives!) hidden just out of view, usually above the top of the screen. You certainly get your money's worth from this game. The best levels, in my opinion, have got to be the jet pack levels, especially the final boss level where you take on Neo Cortex himself. The funniest levels, though, are the tiny polar bear levels - Crash sees the tiny polar bear, turns around and arches his eyebrows at you, and then hops on for a wild ride.As far as family-friendliness, it's very high on the scale. There are no guns that you wield (though your foes sometimes shoot at you). The vast majority of the foes are either vanquished by jumping on them or "spin-moving" or "sliding" them (both of which just knock the opponent out of the way), or you simply escape from them. The only exception is the TNT boxes, which you jump on then have 3 seconds to escape before they explode. There are a few cases where you need to get rid of foes using the TNT boxes. The violence that is in the game is very cartoonish, however, with no blood or gore. The graphics are a bit dated (being from 1997). Some kids may thus turn up their noses at the game. That's unfortunate, because it's a great game. Only playing the newest, latest thing is both expensive and gives short-lasting pleasures. The graphics are much better than the original Crash Bandicoot. Will adults like it? I don't know, but they should: In my view, games unsuitable for kids are not actually suitable for anybody. In any case, *this* adult certainly does like it.Get it, whether you're 8 or 80. You won't regret it. Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars I am a Wheel Watcher for over 20 years...so read this!
CEagle2003

WHEEL OF FORTUNE!!! Now it is on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Also, for the first time ever, you can play along with host Pat Sajak. Never before has Pat Sajak been on a Wheel of Fortune video game. Also, his voice is there along with Vanna White and the announcer Charlie O'Donnell. Also, do not worry about getting confused. Charlie O'Donnell, Pat Sajak, and Vanna White all tell you step-by-step how to play the game, whether you are using Wii Speak or not. Please make note of that, you do NOT need Wii Speak to play this exicting game. All Wii Speak enables you to do is play the game by calling out the letters and solving the puzzles using your voice, just as if you were in Culver City, California in Sony Pictures Studios on the actual show. Now, I have been to a WheelMobile event. I have multiple Wheel of Fortune games. I have played the Wheel of Fortune games for the following systems:-Super Nintendo Entertainment System-Various CD-ROM games (there have been more than one Wheel of Fortune game made for the PC or MAC).-Wheel of Fortune Plug-n-Play-Handheld Wheel of Fortune game-Wheel of Fortune board gameOut of that list, the one that comes closest to giving you as much fun as Wheel of Fortune for the Nintendo Wii is the Wheel of Fortune Plug-n-Play because you can literally spin the wheel. However, there are no people on the game whatsoever (nobody at all, not even Vanna White). Now, here is what I really love about this game. It is literally to the show. After Pat and Vanna come out, you start with a toss-up puzzle worth $1,000. Don't worry, they explain during the game how to play the toss-up puzzle, so you don't even need the instruction manual. Then, after the first toss-up is complete, Pat Sajak has you do another toss-up worth $2,000 and the right to start the first round. After that toss-up is complete, Charlie O'Donnell explains about the Jackpot because it is the Jackpot Round and he explains about what trip is being put on the wheel. Now it is Round 1. They explain how to spin the wheel, purchase a vowel for $250.00, or solve the puzzle. If you are playing without Wii Speak, do not worry. They give you plenty of time to pick your letters or fill in the puzzle if you are solving it.Finish round one. Pat Sajak goes over to the winner and congratulates him or her. Then he announces that you are going to commercial. There are exciting games to play during the commercials. I want to leave them as a surprise because they are that much fun.Now you are at Round 2. The only exciting thing about Round 2 is, like Round 1, the following is on the wheel:-The trip Charlie O'Donnell talked about-The Wild Card-The "Free Play" wedge-The "$1,000,000" wedge in between the two bankruptsAlso, round two or round three could be a "Prize Puzzle." This means that whoever solves the puzzle will win an exciting trip and the value of the trip will be added to your score.Round 3 is the "Mystery Round." The Mystery Wedges are worth $1,000 for every consonant that appears but behind one of the 2 Mystery Wedges is a $10,000 cash prize. Behind the other is a Bankrupt. Will you go for it or play it safe? After round 3, Pat Sajak has you do the last toss-up valued at $3,000. Then you finish the game until the Final Spin where Pat gives the wheel a spin and each consonant is worth $1,000 plus whatever he lands on, so if he lands on the $5,000 wedge, each consonant is worth $6,000. The vowels are free of charge during the Final Spin. Then, whoever has the highest score goes on to the Bonus Round. If you have the Million Dollar Wedge, you could be playing for $1,000,000! Otherwise you are playing for a measly $100,000 (lol). You spin the bonus round wheel. Then you have to solve the bonus round puzzle. Pat Sajak gives you the letters R,S,T,L,N, and E. Then you get to pick three consonants and one vowel. If you have the Wild Card with you, you get to pick four consonants and one vowel. Then you get a good amount of time to solve the puzzle, or you could just click on give up.So, there is my review. I give this game 9 out 10 stars! Go out and get this game. I would pay $50.00 for this game, so it is a steal at $30.00. Plus, it has the theme music. What more could you want! It's Wheel of Fortune as it should have been ages ago! It's America's Game! Let's play Wheel of Fortune! Also, I think the Mii Pat Sajak and the Mii Vanna White are dating!!! Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Could be much better!
Chris L. Kidd

I don't regret buying the game from Amazon for $27.99, but wouldn't have been happy to have paid fify as was the selling price at several online sites I checked out before here. The one good thing is that it is suppose to have over 8,000 puzzles and I imagine that it uses the memory on the Wii to keep track of what you've seen and not seen.It does give WAYYYY too much time to solve puzzles and any player can sit and wait forever while making up his mind whether to spin, solve or buy a vowel. It does need improvement, but it is worth thirty bucks and you will have some fun. Me and my family set a rule that you have to have integrity and honesty on the pop-up puzzles, because once you ring in that you know a toss up puzzle, you then have fifty seconds to solve it and if you have three people, that's a lot of waiting if someone doesn't know it and wants to cheat. We also set a time limit of like five seconds in between deciding whether to spin, solve or what have you.So to sum it up, you'll enjoy it but I hope the maker of the game makes some adjustments.Just a tip for anyone who may read this: If you go to Wheel of Fortune's official website, you can download a trial game from "GameHouse" with sixty minutes of play time and the game cost ten bucks to buy after that. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE OFFICIAL GAME FROM THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE WEBSITE. That game is only one player and the second day of playing, several puzzles began repeating. It is also a hangman style game in that if you miss five times, game over. I would expect much more from the WOF website.

5 out of 5 stars So much fun!
Lor

I was so excited to hear that Wii was coming out with this game. I waited to read a few reviews before buying it and the reviews were all positive so I bought it and couldnt be happier! This game is exactly like the the game show. It's a lot of fun to play- even alone.I'd 100% reccommend this game.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of fun and true to the TV show!
adk high peaks

I purchased this for my wife who likes to watch the tv show every night. Seeing how that most game show ports are mediocre at best, we rented this before purchasing. But I'd say you can go right out and purchase this one.The game is just like the tv show and it's tons of fun!The characters, voices, and game play are just like the show.Where the commercial breaks would normally occur you can play puzzle mini-games which are also quite fun.For those who wouldn't want to play the mini games, there is an option to disable this. You can choose your Mii characters to play and their expressions when they win or lose are hilarious!Overall a very fun game and with thousands of puzzles, you should be enjoying this for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars Very true to the actual game. If you're a Wheel Watcher you will enjoy!!!
Aurora Dawn

I purchased this game after buying and liking the Jeopardy WII game put out by the same publisher. This game is very true to the actual game show and has all of the current Wheel of Fortune rules, which depending on perspective is either good or bad.You begin the game with 2 toss-up puzzles. The first is worth $1000, the second is worth $2000 and control of the wheel for the first puzzle. You then have three puzzles to complete, one of which will be the prize puzzle. In between the puzzles are mini games which you play to win extra outfits, prizes, and opportunities for new set designs. There are 3 different mini games. One gives you the letters RSTLNE and then 4 other letters guessed by an actual contestant from the past, and either player can ring in to guess the puzzoe. Another mini game is high low. Each player spins the wheel and Vanna calls out either high or low. The player whose spin is either the highest or lowest gets the first chance to solve the mini game puzzle. The last mini game allows each player to alternate choosing 3 consonants and 1 vowel. Whoever gets the most letters turned over on the board gets the first chance to guess the puzzle. After those 3 puzzles and mini games, there is another toss up puzzle and whoever wins gets to begin the final round. There is always a total of 3 plays allowed in the final round before the bell rings and Pat tells you time is up and he gets to give the wheel a final spin. Then whoever wins gets to participate in the bonus round. This game stays very true to the game...there is the Jackpot space on the board, the million dollar space, and the 1000 question mark where you can flip it over for a chance at 10,000 or a bankrupt. There is also a Free Play and a Wild Card which if kept can be used for an extra consonant during the bonus round. It is fun to use the different set designs once they are unlocked. They are well done...they are Hawaii, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Washington D.C., and New York City.Since the game has dropped the ball so badly with Wii Speak, we don't even bother and play this using only Wiimotes which actually work better than one would expect. We thoroughly enjoy this game, and I recommend it, but it is not perfect so here are the complaints my husband and I have with it:For the majority of the games, the outcome is based solely on who wins the round with the prize puzzle...usually you win about 15 grand if you win that round which is hard to compete with. You land on Bankrupt and Lose a Turn much more than you statistically should...we have kept track and we have never gone more that 5 spins without a Bankrupt or Lose a Turn and we have played over 30 games. We each average about 7 bankrupt spins per person per game. There is not a lot of control over spinning the wheel. You push the b button and there is a power meter and you swing the remote when you have the power you want, but it is definitely not an exact science and it is all luck. You aren't even able to watch the wheel the whole time it spins as it flashes you to views of the set, Vanna, and the contestants. I think the game developers secretly made it that way to toy with the players ;)As others have mentioned, you are allowed 60 seconds to guess a puzzle which gets super cheap. You can ring in without knowing a toss up puzzle and you have 60 seconds to try and figure the puzzle out if you didn't know it. You also have 60 seconds per turn in the final spin puzzle which gets annoying as my husband hits solve each time he calls out a letter so I have to watch him spend 60 seconds each turn figuring it out. Also, before you choose to spin, buy a vowel, or solve there is no time limit at all so one can stare at the puzzle for an eternity trying to guess if they so choose. This is mildly aggravating, but I still find the game fun and it isn't annoying enough to be a deal breaker. All in all, this is a very well done game. The graphics and Miis are great and the set design is amazing. I highly recommend it and hope that if they put out another game in the future that it will employ the usage of a Mii Speak type device correctly. Read more ›

2 out of 5 stars Not good, sorry.

The questions on this game were WAY too easy. If you play against a real person, you don't get to play the bonus round! What's up with that???? While the graphics are decent, I'm very disappointed with this one. Wish I could get my money back.

This was a horrible game, nothing too it.It was like you played the game then started over. I too had wished I could get my money back! Dont waste your money....

1 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!

So glad I rented, not bought. The questions were just plain ridiculous- not the least bit challenging. The single player mode is stupid- you don't even get to hear the computer's question, and the computer almost always misses the question. In the 2 player mode, X always starts the round, regardless of who won the previous round, thus making it virtually impossible for O to win because the questions are so easy that player 1 would have to be a child or really dumb in order to get them wrong, therefore guaranteeing that they will get 5 squares before player 2. There is also no bonus round in 2 player mode. VERY boring, VERY dumb. Don't buy this- donate your money to a worthy cause instead- at least then it's going to something worthwhile! I wish I could give this 0 stars, because I would.

3 out of 5 stars Reminds me of the new Hollywood Squares

I used to love to watch this show with my grandma and even though it is such a simple game, I enjoyed it. You play the game against an opponent (Computer-generated or friend) and you pick squares to answer a question. The middle square is one of the for celebrities - Kathy Griffin, Brad Garrett, Jeffrey Tambor, and Marin Mull - and the host is the actual show host, Tom Bergeron. When you click on the middle square you are taken to an actual clip of the Hollywood Squares show where the celebrity has answered the question - it is pretty neat how good of quality this is! You then agree or disagree which earns you the spot or gets awarded to your opponent. Each time you win a round, a new wardrobe item opens up to dress your character. The game goes really quick and while some of the questions are a little tough, I would say most are really easy! For example, one question asked about the lead actor in "Twilight" and the character said it was Robert Deniro, obviously I disagreed. Other questions ask where the United Nations headquarters are and the character said something crazy like Delaware! It is a very simple game and for fans of the show it is fun and something to take your mind off things! I do though wish the questions were a little tougher and there was more to what you win - dressing my avatar in the game isn't something I really care to win. Overall, though the celebrity mini-clips are funny and it reminds me exactly of the tv show.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad

I liked hollywood squares - the questions on the game show were fairly easy just as the wii game isnot all questions are easy but its a fun game nothing special- loads a bit slow but not bad for a game show gameno game show games for the wii Ive played have been fantastic, but I would say its a fun easy to play group game where at least the questions are not that difficult.

3 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
Janice

Thought it would be fun but it is kinda boring and the questions are super easy. The two player mode is not very fun. It is ok if you get it for under $10 but not worth the 19 I paid for it.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of time
Rich

Okay, the questions are ridiculously easy.Player 1 always starts, so when playing head to head since everyone gets all the easy questions right player 1 gets 5 squares first and wins every round.Waste of money
