4 out of 5 stars Great Multiplayer Online Fighting Game
Lisa Shea

Iron Phoenix is a really interesting combination of two gaming genres. You get the multi-combos of a fun fighting game with the online fun of team combat! The plot and background is pretty fluffy. A meteorite fell to earth, and special weapons were created with its ore. Now different heroes have grabbed the weapons and are vying for control of the region. In reality, when you enter into combat, you can choose any character you want, choose any weapon you want, and have fun.The game is set in a Chinese themed world so you get a nice selection of male and female Chinese-style characters. While I really appreciate having females represented, how come they always choose to fight in incredibly skimpy bikinis? The guys are wearing full clothing and armor, whiel the girls wear bras and mini-skirts. Hmmmmmmmmmm. The graphics are reasonably impressive for a multi-person fighting game. Each character is clearly recognized, fighting in a world full of rippling water, waving trees, glowing balls and flickering light. It's not as pretty as say Halo 2 - the textures are a bit more rough and repetitive. Still, the reflections and lighting are reasonably good. There isn't much to say about the sound. You can stick with the default soundtrack or play any other music you've loaded onto your XBox, which is a cool treat. There are the typical grunts and clanks as you fight, but that's about it.Gameplay itself is reasonably varied. Each character has his or her own special talents and strengths. Each weapon has a different range, speed and style. You can really mix and match to find a style that really works well with your gameplay techniques. There are different game modes to give a try to. There are the traditional deathmatch and team deathmatch games. There's a VIP mode where a random team member is the Leader, and if he dies, the other team wins. There's a Giant Kill which is a really interesting idea. One team has just a few players, but they are giants. The other team has a ton of normal players. Finally the Challenge Ring requires a lot of patience, and is sort of a gladiator match. You sit around watching individuals square it off one-on-one.The maps are nicely varied, from watery to temples to natural and so on. There are lattice-work metal screens, reflective pools of ater, flickering flames in multi-level temples. It really is a great amount of fun to be in a fighting game involving a lot of teammates, and to be in a fully realized 3-D world. However, we were really surprised not to find any sort of campaign or story mode. Sure, it's fun to go into random combat mode and slash away at enemies. But we really enjoy having objectives to reach and challenges to win.So I'll give this a 4/5 as a great online fighting game that, if you have friends who also play online, could easily provide months and months of great fun. But if they do a sequel, I *really* hope that they put work into a story mode, so that you can work through each character's storyline.Rating: 4/5 Read more ›

3 out of 5 stars Lagfest At It's Best!

Iron Phoenix for the Xbox is a fighting game played in the third person perspective. The gameplay concept is very similar to other melee combat arena games like : Kung Fu Chaos or Powerstone. Iron Phoenix, can be played online or offline with up to sixteen characters on-screen. There are 10 characters to choose from including female characters. You can equip your character with one weapon (nine to pick from), which inlude; daggers, broad sword, light swords and even a large hammer. Your character can perform kicks, punches and special moves combined with your swords slashes. The moves themselves are easy to learn and seem neat in theory. There is also a power attack you can use called "chi" (similar to an enegry blast). You can play with BOTS or with human opponents. The arenas themselves are very large and look beautiful...but the whole game falls apart because of poor performace! The framerate is too low and makes the animation look jerky, and this problem is also present on the OFFLINE matches! The characters look drab and boring, they look very old school and could have been done on an older console like the PSONE or N64! The character animation lack fluidity that many other games have, every character moves stiffly and look fake! The camera is never in the right position and this will annoy you. I also hated Heavy Metal Music and this game has plenty of it.Pros:+good level designs+the arenas look great+good fighting techniques+play offline with BOTS+BOTS are very good+XBOX Live up to 16 playersCons:-crappy camera angles-low framerate-jerky character animations-not enough weapon variety-heavy metal music-ugly, stiff looking characters-need more game modes-lots of lag on XBOX Live

4 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic!
Walter Reade

Iron Phoenix is a great action game! It is a fast-paced game that is loaded with beautifully-rendered special effects. You can play 16-person games through XBox Live. The game is strongly weapons-based, meaning your abilities and moves depend on what weapon you are wielding. And there are some awesome weapons. This will undoubtedly be a great addion to any game library.

3 out of 5 stars To hyped up for its own good.
Thomas Foreman

Combat in this game is to fast and the characters are to hard to control and their power and speed is to unbalanced.

5 out of 5 stars SO AWESOME!!!
Leanne

I cannot tell you how many times my hubby or son went to play a game and the controller was dead. Three cords we went through.... I am sooo glad I found this! It works great. So simple to use, keeps them charged, and doesn't overcharge them either! This has been the best investment yet! The best part, you can put it anywhere because it does not use any xbox ports to charge!!

5 out of 5 stars The best way to charge your controllers
Thomas Viscoso

Energizer chargers are the only method I use to charge my controllers across all of the different consoles that I use. It allows you to charge your controller while giving your console a break. The even better part of the deal is that this included 2 rechargeable batteries which give you more playing time than your standard alkaline batteries! I highly recommend this product.

1 out of 5 stars Milas CRAP seems to have had a name change.....but I digress.
J. McLennon

Yeah, so i bought this item as a gift for my brother....DOESN'T WORK. I wrote a negative review and Milas Corp (seller's name at the time of writing this review, when the product was NOT advertised as console only) emailed me, asking me to remove because they wanted to solve the problem. This game is advertised to contain 120 GB, but only comes with about 7GB, since they "forget" to send the hard drive...naturally it doesn't support any games, due to it's low memory. I am still waiting on a response from Milas Corp, after they agreed to send the MISSING HARD DRIVE. Should have thought twice when i saw complaints about them on the Better Business Bureau...silly me. PLEASE TAKE HEED!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!!!**That being said about my dealings with the seller, the product did not work until we spent additional money and purchased a hard drive for it, so keep that in mind.**

1 out of 5 stars Xbox 360 E74 Error
A. Nugen

I purchased the Xbox 360 Elite from Gamesboutike for $230.00 in August, 2009. It was listed on Amazon as USED - LIKE NEW. By December 2009 the unit displayed an E74 error message. Per Microsoft instruction, I sent the unit in for repair. Microsoft returned the unit a few weeks later stating that the Xbox has been modified or tamperred with; therefore, the warranty has been voided. MS dispute resolution center advice that I should take my dispute with the retailer that sold me the unit if I did not tamper with it. Following MS's advice I contacted Gamesboutike through Amazon. Gamesboutike responded and instructed me to send in the unit to them and that they would try to repair the unit themselves. About a couple weeks later after I shipped the unit to Gamesboutike, they responded that the unit was damage beyond repair due to some Xclamp reason and there is nothing else they can do for me. I responded to Gamesboutike to let them know that I'm the sole owner of the Xbox and I'm certain that the unit was never tampered with in anyway and that I would expect a full refund or a replacement. Gamesboutike never responds back to me nor did they ever return the Xbox. The good thing for me is that I kept the receipt and document all my communications regarding my dispute with MS and Gamesboutike and took the dispute to the Credit Card Company that I used to purchase. After three months of ongoing dispute with a follow up phone call every two weeks or so with the credit card company, they finally agree to issue a full refund to my credit card as they take their dispute with the merchant's bank. Hooray!Although Gamesboutike has 96% positive rating when I purchase the Xbox, but from my experience with this company I would never buy anything from them again. The term caveat emptor apply here with this vendor.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game Seller.
Shelbey Jordan

Thankfully, the used Xbox 360 elite I got worked. I had bought it from HonestPete. I don't make a lot of money, so I had to get one of the cheaper used ones. It's the best 100$ I ever spent. Before you blame the person selling the Xbox make sure the hard drive is meant for your system. I tried my brothers since we were too lazy to pull out the other one and had Red Ring of Death, but it was the hard drive's fault not the Xbox 360. Also, make sure you got all the right cords. It's a great system, but bad if you don't have the right cords.

Got this couple days ago and have been using it, Everyone complains that they get RROD, but they either use the console for hours and hours, and they keep it on the carpet making it over heat, I like this console, Only down side is that it is a little on the noisy side, But you would get used to it.UPDATE: the best solution to get rid of the noise and stop your xbox from heating up as much is to just install the game, If you do that your cd wont run as it will read it off the hard drive.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Product
Scott McPherson

Very pleased with this console and being able to enjoy High Def with the HDMI cable included. No issues so far as I play on average 6 hours a night. All accessories are included as stated.

1 out of 5 stars Good When They Work, Microsoft's product service does not help
Doug

Let me start this off by saying I have been a loyal xbox consumer for quite some time (bought the original system at launch).Today's experience with Microsoft has been an absolute eye opener as far as the quality of their products and their complete lack of service overall. I have had my 360 system for a few years and bought the elite and newer models of the systems to avoid the problems that everyone else was experiencing with their consoles. This morning I went to turn on my 360 to experience the dreaded red ring of death that I have heard about so many times from so many of my friends. So I called Microsoft to see if I can have it repaired only to get the answer that my warranty had expired mere days ago. They did however offer to repair the system for half the price of a brand new system ($100 the new xbox 360 being released in a month retails at $199) with no mention of an upgraded warranty after this one would have gotten fixed. Naturally I decided to decline especially since I had a backup system upstairs (my fiancee's). I got to play one game for about a half hour and decided to switch to a different game, low and behold a second system broken in one day, this time the drive door would not open, not to worry this system was made later and should still be under warranty right? WRONG, the answer the technician gave me for this system is because this is a different problem the warranty does not count for as long, so essentially two broken systems in one day. Please be VERY CAUTIOUS when buying any products from Microsoft in the future.

5 out of 5 stars Call of Duty Black Ops LTO
Bowman373

This review is just for the extras that come with the LTO edition of Black Ops. I thought it would include the first 2 map packs (First Strike & Escalation) but was disappointed to find that it only included the former. But anyway, this is a great value, because for the same price as the regular edition of Black Ops, you get 1 map pack (a $15 value) for free.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS GAME !!!!!
Night Lord 40K

I have played ALL of the Call of Duty games , and I do mean all up to the current Call of Duty Ghosts. This game is the one that me and my friends go back to and play the majority of the time. This is just a perfectly designed game in my humble opinion. The campaign/story was just an awesome ride and one that I have taken many times on every difficulty. I can't recall ever playing any other game that took us into the cold war like this one. This was a game that took the COD series in another direction instead of the same old same old , they gave us somrthing different and that was a much welcome change. The multiplayer in this game is without a doubt one of the best. Everything seems just perfect , the pacing of your player , the gun balance , the map sizes and variety were all just right. They also included the outragiously popular Zombie mode as well that I myself have probably logged over 200 hours in. This is the mode my friends and I play when we get tired of playing the regular multiplayer matches and these Zombie matches can go on for hours. This game is one of the best. Solid 5 out of 5

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME GAME! :D
Ifreakinluvxbox

I was a totally strict Halo fan. I didnt have an xbox, so I would go over to my friend's house and play Halo there. One day he got tired of Halo, and made me play this game. I struggled at first, but soon surpassed him and eventually got my own Xbox 360 and pre ordered the second sequel to this game, Black Ops II. That game was AWESOME! Treyarch! I LOVE you! The zombies modes and maps on this game are probably the best part of all of the Call of Duty games. I got all the DLCs for this game because I loved the zombies the most. Rezurection is the best, seeing it is strictly a zombie DLC. I recommend buying this! It even comes with the first DLC for free! And its cheaper than the standard edition here on Amazon. :)

I play this game every week, at least once-wife hates it...... but i sneak around and play. i dont play much video games but i am hooked on this. I like the original maps. I think i am good at this game. my avg kill/death ratio is over 1.5....if you are in to that kind of statistics. This game is every penny worth. btw this is my 3rd disc. first two are in the shredder --if you know what i mean. Is anybody else having the same problem? Every few months I find mine in the shredder - no body knows how it landed there...apparently

Characters enter the game as something of a blank slate after they are resurrected from death by the mysterious "Well of Souls" following a grand in-game conflict. Spurning the rigid character class systems commonly used in RPGs for the development of characters, the game instead focuses on player-shaped "destines" which hinge on the chosen combinations of abilities and equipped items and weapons attached to their character as the game progresses. With no traditional classes these are blended as the play wishes. This along with a large item inventory limit and a robust crafting system for creating new items, allows for a nearly limitless number of possible character paths, or destinies. Active combat plays a major role in the game as players explore the Open World environment of the game on quests that bring them into contact with all manner of creatures. Regardless of character paths, all characters have access to primary and secondary weapons as well as magic. Unique attacks are tied to your choice of weapons, armor and strategies. The game also features powerful slow-motion attack opportunities called "Fateshift Kills" triggered by specific situations and/or equipped items. These devastating attacks are measured out as players time moves to a separate "Fate Energy" power meter. 5 out of 5 stars Action-RPG hybrid with an emphasis on ACTION-rpg
Scott Cameron

Background:For those that do not know, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a new intellectual property and is the first in what is hoped to be a new line of RPG games. The game was created by 38 games/Big Huge Games and published by EA. There are quite a few properties that are out there populating the field that it wants to become part of. This game has quite an all star group that have helped to create the game and I believe it has earned its place in the gaming world. Also, for a while there, the RPG field was bare and dry especially on the XBOX and so I welcome the change to explore a new and interesting world.Todd McFarlane, the genius behind Spawn and other adult themed comics has provided inspiration for the artwork. The storyline was written by R.A. Salvatore who has published 20+ books in the field of Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Executive Director was Ken Rolston, the lead designer of the Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.Graphics:The graphics on this game are beautiful and colorful. Over the past few months I have finished playing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Dark Souls and it is refreshing wandering a world that is bright and colorful. It reminds me of some portions of World of Warcraft such as the Blood Elves on the Horde side. You can see Todd McFarlanes influence on the art department in the multitude of characters you encounter.Combat:The trend for RPG's have aimed for the hybrid of Action-RPG with most falling on RPG elements and action as a second thought. This game has chosen to put Action in the forefront. The combat resembles the God of War: Collection series. When you are at a certain point, a lot of button mashing is required to score the kill and extra experience that comes from it. After the extreme difficulty of Dark Souls and continuous dying, it was nice to be able to enjoy combat that I felt I had an actual fighting chance of winning.World:The game originally was going to be an online MMO. You can sense that in the way that the world is created and interactions with the characters. It feels like an online MMO in a way but without the interaction of other players. The world is a liner sandbox world. It resembles somewhat a game such as Fable: The Lost Chapters or some of the Final Fantasy X games. There is a lot to explore in the world around you, though, so there is plenty to keep you busy.Other:Communication is a lot like Mass Effect where you rotate to the conversation choice. You can have negative or positive communications but I have not really seen many that affect the outcome or interaction with my character too terribly much. I may find more later on.There is pre-order download content. I received the game in the morning. Unfortunately, the codes for the DLC (mainly items to help you start off with) did not arrive via email until around midnight which made their use moot.Overall Impression:I am an old school RPG player ever since I received my first free copy of Final Fantasy 1/Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) with my paid subscription to Nintendo Power back in the day. The trend for RPG's has to continue to the action-RPG hybrid element which I feel it has successfully achieved. With todays world, simplicity is the key. The character creation and leveling I feel has been watered down. Not at the level that is the Fable series or other RPG's but it has been simplified. You really cannot go wrong in how you create your character and you can truly customize the character to your playing style. The bugs that were present in the demo have been cleaned up quite a bit although there are still technical issues here and there (not on the same level as the demo)I highly recommend this game. There are simply not enough good RPG's out there even if the field seems to be filled with them. There are a lot of mediocre titles that dot the landscape in-between Elder Scroll and Final Fantasy releases. I believe this Game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a worthwhile RPG to invest ones time and energy into and is a world that truly deserves to be lost in. I wish someone would re-visit Betrayal at Krondor (Enhanced CD-ROM) Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Fun and gorgeous game!
Emily M.

I bought KoA: Reckoning for my boyfriend as a gift (he is a huge R.A. Salvatore fan)... needless to say, I've logged about 25+ hours and he has 4 or 5 hours. The gameplay is very fun, especially if you tend to play characters that rely on hand-to-hand combat as opposed to archery or magic. There is nothing about this game that isn't appealing to the eye-- the colors are so bold and the landscapes really are gorgeous. The inventory system is pretty cool also; instead of giving your character a weight limit for what they carry, there is an item limit. Although this is kind of a bummer for smaller items, it really is beneficial when you're going through a cave or ruin and you find nothing but armor and weapons. The inventory menu also has a "junk pile," so as you're on a few quests and picking up everything (and I pick up EVERYTHING), you can add it to your junk pile, and when you get to a shop, there's an option to sell all of your junk, which makes your visits to the shops a lot quicker. For me, the controller setup had its high points and low points, but I really loved how your primary and secondary weapons are set on the X and Y buttons, which makes switching between them a breeze! I am a big fan of hand-to-hand and melee combat, so having this control setup allowed me to fight faster. Also, hitting left or right on the D-pad allows you to consume a minor healing or mana potion, which is awesome if you're in the midst of fighting several enemies (because it's rare that you'll only encounter one at a time). "Reckoning mode" also has its high and low point, which are, to me, the same thing-- in Reckoning mode, you can beat anything or anyone, very quickly. While this rocks for any quest with a mini boss battle at the end (fill up your fate meter while going through a cave and it will be full when you get to the boss, and cut him down in a few sword swipes), it makes these boss battles forgettable and too easy. And let me say this now-- I am not a super awesome gamer... I can hold my own, but I am a pretty casual gamer with a total weakness for a good RPG. Another little aspect of this game that I LOVE is the "hide helmet" option... I hate bulky armor because I can't see my character's face (I must not be the only weirdo like this, since there is this option), but being able to hide the helmet on the gameplay screen really made me happy. The ability to be able to change your character's destiny and appearance throughout the game is also nice and, although I didn't find the need for these options, it is definitely nice to have them available.Overall, I wish this game was a little more difficult; I know you can adjust the difficulty settings, but I don't feel like that would impact too much. I began this game working on the main quest, which is really interesting and fun. Side quests would come up, and I figured I would just get to them after or when I needed a break from the main quest. Well, I completed the main quest rather quickly (very rewarding, although I felt I should have paid more attention to the story line), and now I'm going back to the side quests and they just aren't that fulfilling compared to what I've done. They are fun and quick, but I'm completing them with more of a "well, what's the point?" attitude. Also, a bummer is that things in this game do not level up with you. After completing the main quest, I secured awesome armor, a kickass longsword, and a pretty dominant set of faeblades. So now, the enemies that used to take a little work to defeat are now cut down in 3-4 swipes of my sword... and if they do hit me, it barely registers on my life meter. Also the leveling up system isn't something I'm too excited about. When you are able to level up a skill, they are all things that I, personally, didn't care too much about because none of them are very difficult in the first place (exception to this-- Detect Hidden, which is awesome). Sure, you can level up alchemy or blacksmithing, but to be honest, I beat the main quest without having once made a potion or building a piece of weaponry or armor; potions, money, and pretty awesome weaponry/armor are all easily found in this game, so why spend the time during a quest making these things if I can quickly buy them? I will probably force myself to play around with this things, but at this point in time, I just don't see much of the purpose for doing so. After this, you get three points to distribute in various skills, which will add various defensive/offensive moves to your combat style. My boyfriend uses these a lot, but I didn't as much because I'm a total button-masher. But they are cool nonetheless!I hate to compare this game to Skyrim, but it is the last thing I played, so the comparisons are inevitable (I know, I know... "it isn't meant to be like that!" I get it!). I feel like KoA is geared towards gamer comfort-- the inventory system and controls are smart and were assigned with the gamer in mind. The story is intriguing and rewarding, and I found this game to be a lot of fun. On the downside, though, it just wasn't difficult and I feel like the main quest was the only true gem. This threw me off because in Skyrim, I did everything else to delay doing the main quest. KoA's faction quests are fun, but again, it was kind of like "okay, so now what?" If developers took this game and built it on a giant scale, I would be first in line to purchase it.Even with the several aspects of this game that I wasn't a huge fan of, I would replay this game or buy another game in this series in a heartbeat. I recommend it to anyone, but my advice is this-- stay away from the main quest for a while to truly enjoy the side quests, and slow down and enjoy the capabilities and storylines within the gameplay. 5 out of 5 stars A Great Mix of All That Is Good In Games
Allison

When Big Huge Games announced they were working on an RPG, I was both skeptical and hopeful. I knew them for their strategy titles, and while they created quality games I was dreading another slow-paced entry to the genre. Well, it looks like all my fears were for nothing. While they don't deliver anything extraordinarily ground breaking here, every element they have pulled into the game are ones I have found fun in other games. And one point I feel I have to make early on: This is nothing like Skyrim. Many people have asked me if it's like Skyrim/Oblivion, and I'm assuming this has to do with the designer being involved in the game. Really, the only thing familiar was the lockpicking, the rest of the game plays vastly differently from Skyrim and it's a good thing. So on to the key points I get asked about:Combat--This is where Reckoning shines. The combat is slick and fun, and it's the first game I've heard touting the 'Play any style you want!' where it actually seems to work. Nothing like sneaking up, backstabbing someone, instantly throwing a fireball in the face of your next foe, and then switching to a two-hander and charging into the next group of enemies. If I had to compare the game to anything that would give you an instant idea, at first impression I felt like it was a mix of Fable and God of War. No, it's not quite as much of a slaughter fest as God of War, but the combat has that fluid, satisfying style that God of War brought to the table.Environment--It's big. It's not a sandbox, and you will find yourself in valleys and going down paths without any clear way to get to the other side (if there even is anything on the other side), and in this regard the world reminded me more of Fable. But there is a lot to explore and do here, and I never found myself thinking 'I really wish I could climb to the top of that mountain' because there was too much to keep me busy right in front of me.Sound--Aside from a few times where I just thought the environment music was a bit odd, the music is great and the voice acting actually surprised me. Though I've read Salvatore, I find him a bit cheesy and repetitive at times, and for some reason my brain associated that with terrible voice acting. Fear not, everyone you meet is voiced well, and while I did roll my eyes once or twice the reason I did so has been long forgotten. Also, there is a lot of voice acting here. Even NPCs who have nothing really important to do for the story have quite a bit of dialog for the purposes of lore.Graphics--The environments are gorgeous, but you know that from watching the trailers. There will be some who don't like the slightly cartoony direction that BHGs took with this, but I for one have thoroughly enjoyed it. I just got done putting in over a hundred hours with Skyrim (I know, I know, I'm running behind the rest of the pack), and I'm tired of looking at 'realistic' graphics. This was a refreshing change and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I will repeat what I've seen in other reviews because I agreed: As beautiful as the environments are, the character models are slightly lacking. They're not terrible, and probably would have done well in many other games, but in comparison to the environments they feel a bit underpolished. Given a choice between fluid combat and a fantastic looking model, though, and I'll take the combat any day. I know they had to make a choice here, and they made the right one.I suppose it should be noted that I'm playing this on Steam, as I'm a bit once-bitten-twice-shy with Origin registration. I've seen reports of bugs and glitches, but aside from the odd texture popping up where it shouldn't maybe five times during my play, I haven't encountered anything that would bring me to a halt. Really, though, if you're not sure if you want this game, play the demo. It runs you through the tutorial portion of the game and then gives you 45 minutes to explore--and while you'll only touch the tip of the iceberg in that time, it will either save you sixty bucks if you don't like the style of the game or it will make you crave more. Personally, I'm betting on the latter. Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Initial review from an original YSFE owner: They might be on to something here.
D. Couse

As an owner of the original Kinect game, and a player of many other workout games since (UFC, Biggest Loser, etc) I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised with this new version. As the original one did, the game gives you a body scan when you originally sign in. That image is then what is used to play games. Oddly enough though, I've yet to find anywhere in the game where I can modify anything it measured. It also didn't ask me for my weight so I have no idea where to input that or update it. It did recognize that I was a previous player and carried over my calorie burn count which I thought was great. After that, a ton of achievements were unlocked, which I also didn't mind :)Gone are the days of the dreaded menu system from the past. Now, your hands are used in a push and hold motion to activate what you want to do. This is much improved over the old hold the arm out with hand extended to touch a dot for 4 seconds to activate. I always had problems with that one.The main menu is broken down into 4 sections: My Zone (your settings, goals etc...btw, be sure to go in and change the measurement system to Imperial for those in the US since it is defaulted to metric), Activities, Workouts and Classes. Once I told the game what I wanted to achieve (with several options to choose from) it created a routine for me to follow and there are several to choose from:Classes include African Rhythms, Boot Camp, Hip Hop, Bollywood, Cardio Boxing, Yoga, Latin Dance and Zen Energy.Activities include Warm Up, Stack Up, Stomp It, Run the World, Wallbreaker and Jump Rope. Run the World here is amazing...more about that later.Workouts include Cardio, Arms, Abs, Toning, Back, Sports Prep, Glutes, Health and LegsI jumped right into the Run the World and have to say this is fantastic! You run in place in various cities around the world and jog by landmarks. To keep the run interesting, you are monitored for speed (how quickly your knees are moving) and given challenges throughout the run including "high knees" and speed challenges. Along the way, you pass makers regarding the landmarks and a color photo pops up with the training giving you a brief history lesson or fact about it. Very cool. The recognition on sit-ups went very well, with push-ups still a little off for me. I may have been doing something wrong, but it is the by far the best recognition of push-ups for me of any game I've used before. During your training the background will change and spice it up which was also a nice feature. One final item that didn't change that seemed to bother a lot of previous players was that there is really no defined way to exit the game or button to push. You still have to get to the pause menu or use your controller to go to the dashboard. If someone can figure out where to input/update the current weight and pass that along, I would greatly appreciate it.All in all, I have to say that I'm very impressed with the new version as I believe they've really worked on making it a great workout game that is much improved from the first one.**Later in the day edit**I think they have hit a home run with this game. The jump rope section is like crack! It's guitar hero, except with your feet. An absolute blast and fun for the whole family! (without getting them addicted to crack, of course) :)I also did the Boot Camp initial workout and was pretty dang tired after doing it, and I'm really no slouch. The only issue with that was the trainer just started going into movements so you miss a few the first time. But seriously, the background changes through a military theme throughout.LOVING IT!! 4 out of 5 stars Still the best "pure fitness" game you can get for the Xbox Kinect
Nutwiisystem.Com

The original Your Shape: Fitness Evolved provided an excellent showcase of what the Kinect was capable of in regards to fitness and exercise. Its motion detection was revolutionary in terms of how well it detected how well you were performing exercises, and the mini-games it included were both tons of fun and moderately good exercise.I'm happy to say that Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 does push the platform forward, in an evolutionary if not a revolutionary way. Still, it is by far the best "pure workout" game that you can get on the Kinect. When you start out the game, you see a blue screen which adjusts the sensor and detects who you are. You're then brought to a home screen, where you see a stylized cartoon image of yourself. That's right, there's no need to create an avatar, because you ARE the avatar. This little change was a huge improvement over the first version, where you played as a brightly colored silhouette. It makes a world of difference, because now you can see your limbs and your body position much clearer than before and match them against the on-screen trainer. More on that below. The home screen shows a number of different counters: medals won, badges won, and percent of content you've played through. On the right you can see the total number of calories you've burned playing the game. I do like the fact that there are clear milestones and targets to aim for, which will keep you coming back to the game. (One question a lot of people have is--did Ubisoft fix the annoying bug from the first version where it'd lose track of which sessions you've finished in a given routine. The happy answer is yes--now, no matter what order you do the exercises in the system will keep accurate track of which ones you've completed). At the main menu, you have a variety of choices which are color-coded into categories. The blue icons represent your tools. You can keep track of your overall progress, set objectives and take a fitness quiz so the system can recommend specific workouts for you, or go online to share your progress with the community. I do like that they made the fitness test optional in this version, so those who want to can just jump into the exercises. There are three remaining categories: Yellow icons represent "Activities", which are mini-games. Red icons represent "Workouts" which are traditional generic calisthenics and strength building exercises of the kind you might find at a gym. Finally, purple icons represent "Classes", which are essentially themed Workouts.Under the yellow "Activities", you have the following mini-games:1) Wallbreaker: This is essentially the same game as "Virtual Smash" in last year's version. In it, you have to punch across your body to hit blue blocks that appear next to your virtual character's body. The more blocks you punch accurately and quickly, the higher your multiplier will go up and the more a grid behind you will fill up--fill it up completely and it'll collapse. As you get to higher levels you'll have to kick blocks as well and avoid red blocks and giant anvils swinging at you. Even though this is basically a rehash of last year's version, it's still immensely fun, and the fact that you're controlling "you" and not just a silhouette of you adds a certain dimension to the game. I'd rate this one a 4 of 5 for workout intensity and a 5 of 5 for fun.2) Stack 'Em Up: This one is essentially the same game as the game from last year's version called..."Stack 'Em Up". This is the one where you're holding a plank and trying to catch and balance blocks that are falling from the sky. There are some new twists this year--to make your bar longer you have to raise a leg in the air. Also, the blocks come in different sizes, and they can even turn into ice or catch on fire (you need to kick a giant water drop to make it rain). Interestingly, I found the graphics of last year's version much clearer than this year's, especially when it tells you where to drop your blocks. This one gets a 3 of 5 for workout intensity and a 5 of 5 for fun.3) Run the World: Ah, finally something brand new. This is an activity where you "run in place". But there's a twist. You can choose either New York or London and basically "run through" the city from landmark to landmark. When I first heard about this one, I was excited--I thought it might be a virtual reality experience where you could literally run through actual streets (if this sounds outlandish, remember that the technology is already there with Google Maps and Bing Maps, not to mention driving games that have mapped out those cities' streets). But in reality, the experience was much less impressive than that. You basically just run in place on a blank white screen following a line of stylized "yellow dots" on the road. As you run, you do see buildings to your left and right, but they're just generic grey outlines. As you "approach" a famous landmark you'll see that building's distinctive outline, see a tiny photo of the building, and read some trivia about it. Note also that the distances you run are not literal--I'm quite familiar with downtown New York, and there's no way you can run from 40 Wall Street to the Woolworth Building to City Hall in 5 minutes. Still, I did like how the system was able to detect how fast I was "running" and how at least captured the feeling of running through a city. Overall, this activity definitely made what was otherwise a tedious activity pretty interesting. Workout intensity of this one was a 5 of 5, but for fun I give it a 3 of 5.4) Jump Rope: This is another new activity, and it's a winner. It's a twist on jump rope. You start out by holding your hand as if you're holding a jump rope, and an energetic beat will start playing. You'll see icons of two feet under you, and need to jump to the beat while matching the pattern of feet (either two close together, two far apart, or just the left or the right). Even on Easy mode I was wiped out after this one, but I found it immensely fun. 5 of 5 for workout intensity, 5 of 5 for fun.5) Stomp It: This game is very similar to "Light Race" from last year's version, where you stand in the middle of something similar to a "Simon" game and move your feet to correctly hit the colored panels under your feet. This year, they've improved it by matching the colored lights to a beat and give you a visual cue of which panel will light up next, so it's more like a step aerobics exercise (versus last year's version where you were just randomly stomping). You still need a ton of room for this one, and if your Kinect doesn't have a clear view of your feet at all times it's not going to be fun for you at all. This one was a 4 of 5 for intensity, and a 4 of 5 for fun."Workouts", represented by the red icons, are basically traditional calisthenics, cardio, and strength building types of activities that a trainer would do with you at a gym. The workouts are categorized by the part of the body or the exercise goal you want to focus on. They include the following (the number of exercise routines under each is in parentheses):1) Arms (12)2) Abs (13)3) Cardio (10)4) Toning (9)5) Back (12)6) Sports Preparation (8)7) Glutes (12)8) Health (3)9) Legs (12)They've got all the basic exercises covered pretty well. For example, when I selected the first workout under "Arms", the exercises were knee push-ups and slow mountain climbs. A typical exercise under "Abs" will have you doing all kinds of crunches, from basic crunches, to V knees to the chest, to up and down planks. As in the first version, to the left of the screen you'll observe your virtual trainer doing the exercise, using the proper technique. You'll see an image of yourself to the right of the trainer. I really liked how the cartoon trainer and the cartoony you looked very similar, both in terms of size and visual style. As I said, new to this version is the ability to see your arms and legs clearly, so you can work on matching the trainer's body position and moves precisely. There are also visual cues that'll show you exactly where your head should be and where your feet should be. Finally, there's music so that you can time your reps to the beat perfectly (you'd be surprised at how many workout games just play random music and don't bother to match it to your reps).A woman's voice will talk your through all the exercises, calling out instructions and encouragement. Regarding the latter, I found that she tended to err a little on the "overly encouraging" side--even when I wasn't doing the exercises right, she'd be shouting out compliments and encouragement. Happily, the motion detection is definitely spot-on--after the workout you'll see precisely what percentage of the workout you nailed, and I found it to be remarkably accurate."Classes", represented by the purple icons, are very similar to workouts. You go through a series of set exercises, you have a virtual cartoon trainer who will demonstrate the proper moves, and you'll control the cartoony "you" standing next to him or her as you try to match the moves. The difference is that while "workouts" were like generic exercises you might do at the gym, "classes" all follow a specific theme, such as a certain style of dance, a boxing training session, and even a military bootcamp. Here are the options and the number of routines in each:1) Africa Rhythms (12)2) Boot Camp (6)3) Hip Hop (12)4) Cardio Boxing (14)5) Destination: Bollywood (12)6) Yoga (4)7) Latin Dance (12)8) Zen Energy (8)I tried the boot camp one first. Sure enough, you and your virtual trainer (a gruff drill sergeant) are in the field of a military boot camp complete with a helicopter and occasional explosions happening around you. Even at the easy levels, you're taken through a grueling set of exercises, from running to "Olympian squats" to "stun attacks" to push ups. The trainer stays in character throughout, shouting instructions to you amid various random interjections ("you're tired? I don't care!", "does it hurt? Good!").I also tried the Bollywood one. Like the rest of the dance-themed classes, it had different levels with names like "Learn it", "Rehearse It", "Speed It Up", and "Show it Off". I tried the beginning level, and it brought me through some very authentic Bollywood dance steps with names like "Bolly Arms", "Aarti Step" and "Blossom Step". The moves were very authentic. I wouldn't say this part of the game is exactly Dance Central, but it's not bad either.Overall, I'd say this is a worthwhile purchase if you're serious about using your Xbox for fitness and exercise. Those who purchased last year's version (especially if you purchased a lot of the DLC) may find a lot of what's in this year's version redundant. But I'd say there are enough improvements to make it a worthwhile purchase. I loved the improved avatar, enjoyed the new activities they added, and appreciate the fact that they didn't skimp this year on the number of exercises you can do before resorting to purchasing more as downloadable content. From the title, I'm assuming Ubisoft intends to release one of these every year; here's hoping that they continue to innovate the series moving forward and don't get lazy and rest on past laurels. 5 out of 5 stars Better than the previous in most ways
Anthony Lower

Played this last night for about an hour. Instead of a real work out I jumped around from activity to activity. I like all of the new classes they've added. I used Cardio Boxing a lot last game,(lost 45 pounds) and can see I'll be using the Hip Hop and Latin dancing often too.The look and feel of this game is jazzed up a lot. The sterile white work out room is replaced by an environment that differs with what you're doing and at least in the classes, it changes as you progress. For example, cardio boxing is plain room with a flat floor when you start, but as you progress, punching bags drop from the ceiling, the ring pops up around you, etc. They're only decorations -you cannot interact with them- but its visually stimulating. That said, I found the stimulation a little distracting and missed a few moves! The menu system is different, but not worse or better than what the first game had. I liked the titles of things previously. The titles were more descriptive to me, (Cardio Boxing Silver Part 1 Versus Cardio Boxing Learn it!) but I assume I'll get used to the new naming system.I don't get how the initiatives feature works. When you start it, it asks you some questions about your fitness goals then highlights some exercises with flags and suggests a frequency and length of workouts. It told me to workout 30 minutes, twice a week for 4 weeks. But then I was lost. Am I supposed to pick and choose flagged items that add up to 30 minutes? I wish it would just launch 30 minutes of activities one after the other, but maybe I am missing a button.I liked how the time and calorie info was presented in the previous version more. In this version instead of square on, it's shown in a front to back perspective that was hard for my old eyes to read at a glance. Also missed is the easy to find "how-many-calories-did-I-burn-today" number. If its in the game other than online in the Yourshape center, then I can't find it.But overall, this game is everything its predecessor was and even more. The amount of content is overwhelming at the moment, and I had NO issues with it reading my movements. The differences are something a new player won't care about, and a original YSFE player will get used to.=== 3 days later ===I *think* the program works by just following the flags and doing any combination of the exercises to get to the total number of minutes over all by the end of the time period. For example, it said 30 minutes twice a week for 4 weeks --so thats 2 X 30 X 4 = 240 minutes. I did 27 minutes Thursday and 37 minutes today, so it now if you go back into where the program is set up it shows 64 minutes out of the 240 = about 25% (can't remember the exact number it showed me.) I'd prefer it tell me EXACTLY what to do, because for example, I will probably lean heavily on the cardio (easier for me) and ignore the arm strength training (harder for me) because its so flexible and doesn't force me!But I finally tried the boot camp! WOW is all I can say, the first one yesterday was very, very tough but I made it through. Today's was REALLY challenging and I had to give up on several places (5 or 6 times) and then start up again after 20 seconds of rest. I was sweating like crazy, and def breathing hard, so I know its working me out hard. Can't wait to keep doing it till I can make it through without breaking a sweat! Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars ALMOST exactly like POWER-UP HEROES...
mom2boyz

I purchased the Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth XBOX 360 KINECT game as a pre-order at full price (before there were any reviews) so that I could give it to my son as a birthday gift. I generally prefer to wait until after there are some reviews before purchasing, but decided to take a gamble since he really liked the Avengers movie.According to my son, everything (except for the characters) is the same as the much cheaper (now) PowerUP Heroes. He said that the set-up, screen, battles, manuevers and all are exactly like Power-Up Heroes. He really likes Power-Up Heroes, but was looking for this Avengers game to be something different (since he already has Power-Up Heroes). He said that the battles are stationary in one location (in both games). He said that he would have liked if in the Avengers game there was some chasing/running so that the battles aren't merely just doing everything in one location. He probably would have liked this game more if we didn't already have Power-Up Heroes from last Christmas (because he really liked and played Power-Up Heroes a lot when he first got it).One thing I did notice is that Power-Up Heroes has an ESRB Rating of E (10+) and Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth has an ESRB Rating of T (Teen). My personal thought is that as a parent if you were/are ok with your child watching the PG-13 rated Marvel Avengers movie, then you will probably be ok with your child playing this game. This game is certainly not anymore violent than the movie itself. As a side note, the game is a really good deal at half price (which it has recently been priced at on this site).

5 out of 5 stars my kids love this
Tobler

Definitely the most fun game I've played with Kinect. But I have to say it really took on a whole new life when I started playing with the kids. There aren't a lot of games we play all together, but this one was great.

4 out of 5 stars Great game for kids
Bocchini2012

I was surprised at how perfect this game was for my 4 year old son. He is obsessed with Avengers, specifically Captain America. This game has all of the characters and it is not too complicated for even my 3 year old to play. I notice with many of the Kinect games they have a hard time recognizing my boys because they are so small but for whatever reason this game responds to their movements almost perfectly. My oldest son has gotten quite good. Now, for children that are older than 3 and 4 this might be a bit boring. As a full grown man who enjoys video games I do not find this one terribly boring but it is incredibly redundant. You have a total of 4 moves that you can do for each character and the fights are essentially all the same. It does not seem like the fights become more challenging as you get progressively further in the game.Overall its a good game for younger kids but dont expect it to be your kids new favorite game.

3 out of 5 stars Battle for Earth...
J. Negron

Man I soo wanted to like this game, but sadly its just average. The Good: The graphics are nice and voice acting is pretty good to. The concept is great too. Who wouldn't want to be your favorite Marvel Super hero and kick some butt. The animations are very cool when you do the Ultra moves as well. Reminds me a lot like Marvel VS Capcom when you do the Super moves. While in your Ultra move, at the right moment you make punching motions as many times as you can and the more you swing....you guessed it....the more hits you get. The Bad: Controls are horrible and very glitchy. It also becomes frustrating at times because there were many times I had to do the motion multiple times to get off the move. I made reference to MvC in the Good, and you know in MvC there is the Easy mode which will allow you to button mash and you look like a Rock star doing all these crazy moves and combos. Battle for Earth is just like that except you can use your body. My 4 year old loved it because he was literally jumping around the living room and Hulk was going off! Well at least HE loves it and that is all that matters. :-/In the end, great for hyper toddlers that love superheroes that you would like to get tired. A true Marvel fan MAY like it. If you are in it for Gameplay.... wait for it to go down in price. At $50 get ready to be very disappointed.

This is Power-Up Heroes with a better look and an updated interface. If you want a decent workout, this is your game. Pretty much, you follow one of several moves that is dispalyed on the screen for your tag team. If you want to throw multiple punches, you wait until the raise knee icon appears to be full, and you'll be cued to throw multiple punches for close combat. You can also change your character by raising your left arm. You'd want to do this after you exhaust all your moves with your present character. There is a new counter move called breaker, which counters your enemies combo. Breakers are performed by jumping in the air. I'm enjoying the Marvel version of PowerUp Heroes after playing multiple hours (too many) with PowerUp Heoroes. It's a little stale for me, but I do like the improved graphics and new environments for the best Kinect game so far. This will be a great Black Friday pickup this year for the parent that wants his kid to get a little exercise, or for the adult that has little moticvation for working out.

5 out of 5 stars Better then i expected... by far
Bad Dog Daddy

Let me start off by saying this. This is not a 250 dollar+ wheel. It is a sub 100 wheel and pedal set. Many of the reviews you will read are from people that thought this would be the same as a wheel that is 5 times the price. This review is written about this actual item and will compare it to wheels in this price and quality class.prosSet up took all of thirty seconds. It is plug and play with Forza 4 no need to remap buttons.Paddle shifters are placed perfectly behind the wheel. They have a nice click and a great feel. far better then the mad catz side shifterRubberized wheel is comfortable to hold. Great tension when turning and a fluid quiet return to center. The mad catz wheel is known to be a squeaky mess.Button layout is well thought out, they are easy to reach yet never get in the way.Great vibrationusb powered, no plug or batteries required.dead on accuratequestionable but not detrimentalThe wheel is on the small size, though bigger then the wireless official wheel. That being said it just feels right. Any bigger and you couldn't reach the buttons any smaller it would be cramped. The foot pedals are light small but separated well enough. They have a good level of resistance.conspedals are light and slide easily, same as every other budget setwheel base has suction cups to secure to table, stand, etc i have mine suctioned to a heavy marble cutting board that works great.overall, a great wheel better then the mad catz. much better then the wireless wheel. Takes your racing games to a new level. The best in it's price range.

5 out of 5 stars Works on PC as well
Eugene

I got this wheel (XBOX version) as this was the only available wheel in local Walmart and I am using it with PC. It works perfectly (you may need to install drivers for Xbox 360 wired controller, available from Microsoft), the only problem is that you don't have any force feedback and it's unlikely that there will ever be a driver update to support it.I feel that this is an amazing wheel for the price! It's accurate, feel durable, sticks well to the table! My main concerns are with pedals:1) Gas and break are on the same axis, meaning that you can't use gas and break at the same time.2) Pedals are very light and their midpoint is close to the beginning , so if you have to be easy on throttle, you feel like you are barely touching the pedal.Besides from those 2 problems, I feel like this is a great wheel. You also get 2 analog button on it that you can use instead of pedals, if you prefer. I would highly recommend it for somebody who wants to have fun playing games and maybe is just starting some serious simulator (like iRacing).

3 out of 5 stars Nice enough, but too small
Amazon Customer

I love racing games and a good wheel is a must-have item. I had a different wheel, but it's departed to that great junkyard in the sky.The Hori wheel seems to be pretty well made overall. The paddle shifters and buttons are well laid out, but the wheel is a bit on the small side (think go-kart, vs F1).The wheel lacks force-feedback, but that would have raised the cost of the wheel much higher. It's not really an issue since it does the job very well.My biggest complaint with the set is the size of the pedals. Now to be fair, I have pretty big feet (14EEEE). The pedals are unusable if I wear shoes, but work after a fashion with only socks on.Overall, I'd opt for a slightly larger wheel, but the Hori works well and will fit most people (especially kids) just fine.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for young gamers
J. Leigh

I have owned numerous driving wheels, ranging from the Logitechs, to the Xbox wheel, to the high end Fanatec wheel. This wheel is not competing in that same market. It is not even remotely in the same price range and therefore cannot be expected to compete at that same level. The wheel provides only a spring loaded return to the center and vibration. There is no force feedback. Also the foot pedals are quite small and close together. It is very light and is made from thin plastic parts. But it is sturdy enough to serve its purpose. Given all this, while it is not a good wheel for serious racing gamers, it is ideal for young players (like between the ages of 7 and 10) who may not be strong enough to fight against a full force-feedback wheel, and whose feet are ideal for these smaller foot pedals. At the price point it is also not a huge investment a parent has to make.I tested this wheel with Forza 4 and it worked right out the box. Set up was simple. Just plug and go. Just remember not to have both the Xbox game controller and this wheel active at the same time or else Forza gets confused (not a fault of this wheel- Forza gets confused with other wheels too). To resolve this, just turn off the other xbox controller.Oh one other point I have to make. The paddle shifters on it are actually quite nice. They are driven by microswitches so there is a nice solid click when you press them. It actually feels more positive than my more expensive Fanatec wheel.Anyway, in summary, this is a good starter wheel for young kids. But if you are an adult go with a Logitech (for PS3), Xbox wheel (for Xbox) or Fanatec (for dual compatibility and if you are serious sim racer).
