I purchased the Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth XBOX 360 KINECT game as a pre-order at full price (before there were any reviews) so that I could give it to my son as a birthday gift. I generally prefer to wait until after there are some reviews before purchasing, but decided to take a gamble since he really liked the Avengers movie.According to my son, everything (except for the characters) is the same as the much cheaper (now) PowerUP Heroes. He said that the set-up, screen, battles, manuevers and all are exactly like Power-Up Heroes. He really likes Power-Up Heroes, but was looking for this Avengers game to be something different (since he already has Power-Up Heroes). He said that the battles are stationary in one location (in both games). He said that he would have liked if in the Avengers game there was some chasing/running so that the battles aren't merely just doing everything in one location. He probably would have liked this game more if we didn't already have Power-Up Heroes from last Christmas (because he really liked and played Power-Up Heroes a lot when he first got it).One thing I did notice is that Power-Up Heroes has an ESRB Rating of E (10+) and Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth has an ESRB Rating of T (Teen). My personal thought is that as a parent if you were/are ok with your child watching the PG-13 rated Marvel Avengers movie, then you will probably be ok with your child playing this game. This game is certainly not anymore violent than the movie itself. As a side note, the game is a really good deal at half price (which it has recently been priced at on this site).

Definitely the most fun game I've played with Kinect. But I have to say it really took on a whole new life when I started playing with the kids. There aren't a lot of games we play all together, but this one was great.

I was surprised at how perfect this game was for my 4 year old son. He is obsessed with Avengers, specifically Captain America. This game has all of the characters and it is not too complicated for even my 3 year old to play. I notice with many of the Kinect games they have a hard time recognizing my boys because they are so small but for whatever reason this game responds to their movements almost perfectly. My oldest son has gotten quite good. Now, for children that are older than 3 and 4 this might be a bit boring. As a full grown man who enjoys video games I do not find this one terribly boring but it is incredibly redundant. You have a total of 4 moves that you can do for each character and the fights are essentially all the same. It does not seem like the fights become more challenging as you get progressively further in the game.Overall its a good game for younger kids but dont expect it to be your kids new favorite game.

Man I soo wanted to like this game, but sadly its just average. The Good: The graphics are nice and voice acting is pretty good to. The concept is great too. Who wouldn't want to be your favorite Marvel Super hero and kick some butt. The animations are very cool when you do the Ultra moves as well. Reminds me a lot like Marvel VS Capcom when you do the Super moves. While in your Ultra move, at the right moment you make punching motions as many times as you can and the more you swing....you guessed it....the more hits you get. The Bad: Controls are horrible and very glitchy. It also becomes frustrating at times because there were many times I had to do the motion multiple times to get off the move. I made reference to MvC in the Good, and you know in MvC there is the Easy mode which will allow you to button mash and you look like a Rock star doing all these crazy moves and combos. Battle for Earth is just like that except you can use your body. My 4 year old loved it because he was literally jumping around the living room and Hulk was going off! Well at least HE loves it and that is all that matters. :-/In the end, great for hyper toddlers that love superheroes that you would like to get tired. A true Marvel fan MAY like it. If you are in it for Gameplay.... wait for it to go down in price. At $50 get ready to be very disappointed.

This is Power-Up Heroes with a better look and an updated interface. If you want a decent workout, this is your game. Pretty much, you follow one of several moves that is dispalyed on the screen for your tag team. If you want to throw multiple punches, you wait until the raise knee icon appears to be full, and you'll be cued to throw multiple punches for close combat. You can also change your character by raising your left arm. You'd want to do this after you exhaust all your moves with your present character. There is a new counter move called breaker, which counters your enemies combo. Breakers are performed by jumping in the air. I'm enjoying the Marvel version of PowerUp Heroes after playing multiple hours (too many) with PowerUp Heoroes. It's a little stale for me, but I do like the improved graphics and new environments for the best Kinect game so far. This will be a great Black Friday pickup this year for the parent that wants his kid to get a little exercise, or for the adult that has little moticvation for working out.
