Big sound with little to complain about.

4.0 out of 5 stars
I game for about 1-3 hrs a day on multiple platforms and a wide variety of genres (i.e. FPS, Strategy, Side scroll, MOBA, MMO, etc.) - some requiring ingame chat and use of mics, others not so much . Previously I have owned a set of Turtle Beach Ear Force X11s and most recently a set of Tritton AX 720s (Which were great for a month and then turned into a cheap piece of shit). I've purchased Sennheiser headphones for music in the past and know they are a brand you can always trust for quality and reliability. However, I had never thought of them when it came to gaming headphones. Decided to give them a try. Been using them for a couple months now and have very little to complain about.
PROS:
- Easy set up. Unlike other headphones (my old Trittons) you don't have to plug in two or three different chords and hook this up to that, etc. It's literally plug it into an available usb slot and it's ready to go. (Your PS3 may require some audio output changes, but follow the instructions it comes with and you'll be fine)
- Good size chord, which has a velcro strap that you can wrap around the controller (if it's wired) and combine them for better chord management and less mess.
- Sound is just as good if not better than other headphones at this price range and above
- Light and very comfortable, I routinely do marathon sessions where I'll play for up to 8hrs and I've never felt any discomfort. I was going to put this under the cons, but it's not really a con, I'm used to headphones with the nice, soft, leathery material; these have more a spongy material, like something a nice watch case or soemthing would have. At first I wasn't crazy about that, but after so much use, it isn't an issue and they are just as comfortable on my ears as anything else I've ever used, and less sweaty, too.
- Mic is great, pics up sound very well, my friends all said they could hear me very well
- Mic mutes when it is in the up position for easy conversations you want to have with other people in the room and not bug people in your chat, and not have to fumble around on a mute control switch.
- Bass boost. I know a lot of people didn't like this or found it to be to much in other reviews. Personal preferences I guess. But when I'm in a tank in BF3 or on the 50 CAL hearing that thing pump away in my ear as I hold down the trigger is like auditory awesomesauce.
- Size and flex, the headset seems to be able to fit most head sizes, it doesn't cup the top of my head as much as others have, more or less rest on the top bridge one adjusted, but it's very versatile and one thing I noticed with the Trittons at least, is that when you pull them off, the hard plastic always sounded like it was going to crack and offered little flexibility beyond the size or shape of your head. These can be stretched out quite a bit and have no fear of cracking the plastic or damaging them.
CONS:
(These should be taken lightly, as they are not big issues but know some people might find them to be. For me, this headset is near perfect.)
- Sounds isolation - the way these fit on me, they don't entirely form a perfect seal around my ears. Having said, that, they still come close and provide excellent sounds quality. BUt I know other sets I've had, just having them on and not even playing a game, they were kind of like earplugs and blocked out a lot of the ambient sound in my apartment.
- Ear material, again, see above statement, depends on what your personal preference is.
For the price, these are easily better than anything comparable and most that are slightly more expensive. Plus, with Sennheiser you get good coverage and know that the quality will last. Read more ›

Excellent Headset! Comfort for Days and Sound for Miles
December 18, 2013

I'm writing more to help than to inform so I will keep this simple:
There are 2 major concerns if you're an avid gamer looking for a large over-the-ear headset. Sound quality and comfort. Don't buy into all of the marketing. The Sennheiser U320 has both! I own a Tritton Warhead and returned 3 $200 turtle beach headsets due to interference issues, humming and squealing noises, and general discomfort before purchasing the U320.
I have been extremely pleased with the design and quality, so I was surprised when I read some of these reviews, but I believe I can help. Here are a few of the concerns that people have written about previously:
1. Length of the cable. In my opinion, this is one of the benefits of the U320 but it does get in the way at times. Buy the Dotz Cord Wrap to wrap up excess cable when you don't need it.
(Dotz Cord Wrap for Cord and Cable Management, Black (CWOS30M-CK)) $10
2. It does not use the more common 3.5mm headset outlet. Buy this adapter if you need to connect to more audio devices like the DSS2 mentioned below
PAC PIOAC25 Stereo Audio Interconnect With 2.5mm To 3.5mm Connectors $5
3. Excellent sound but not many surround sound audio effects.
This was a major concern for me initially. After all, I thought this was the main reason I was purchasing a top of the line headset, but after 3 turtle beaches with 5.1 and 7.1 sound, trust me its not! Comfort, design, and sound fidelity is what separates the real headsets from the gimmicks out there. If you want emulated dolby surround sound, and audio effects, but the Turtle Beach. DSS2 5.1 emulator. I did. Its a great device and thanks to the previous review writer who recommended that.
Turtle Beach Ear Force DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound Processor - Xbox 360 Its $50 used
But if you want a Top of the line headset that you can rely on, get this headset. I cannot stress how much time and effort it took me to get to this point, because I usually don't write reviews, but I hope this helps those are in the market for a new headset and those who already own this headset. Typically superb Sennheiser sound

I bought a pair of 430's in 1980 and have loved Senns ever since for their open, clean soundstage and balanced, natural sound. These have that same wonderful warm sound paired with a good mic, the other thing Sennheiser is famous for.
They take a while to really break in, like any good cans will, and after a few hundred hours the elements really felt burned in (leave them at medium loud volume wrapped in a sweater for a week for the easiest burn in). They are meant for gaming, and work great for that indeed, but are also excellent basic headphones, as the mic is light and swings out of the way easily.
If you're an online gamer, you'll find these to be an entirely new level in sound and comfort. They are super comfy and have all the bass you want, but are smooth sounding and won't fatigue your ears after hours and hours like most cans will. Imagine being yelled at by aggro teenagers in 14 languages in high fidelity! And if you just like good music and play the occasional game, these are perfect for that.
As for the cord being too long? I'm grateful for that, as usually the cords are way too short. The cord is good quality so there's little signal loss, and coiling it once or twice is hardly a major issue. I for one love this ten foot cord.
All in all, just another winner from one of the best headphone companies. But with competition like AKG, Grado and Beyer, it's no wonder Sennheiser has to keep putting out great products. Wouldn't it be nice if every industry had that many superb firms?

Overpriced!
These things are way over priced in my opinion. I should have shopped around... They are also very uncomfortable to wear, heavy, and made of cheap looking plastic.
